Zebra Imaging Nabs Phase II Contract
Jun 2010
AUSTIN, Texas, June 3, 2010 — Zebra Imaging Inc., a provider of 3-D holographic display and visualization technologies, has announced that it has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II award from the US Air Force Research Laboratory. Under Full Multiplex Holographic Display (FMHD) Phase II, the company will integrate its interactive 3-D holographic display system, the Dynamic 3-Dimensional Display (D3D), with an Air Force warfighter mission application related to air, space or cyberspace warfare.

"The FMHD Phase II contract represents an important step in advancing 3-D technology for military planning and operations," said Dr. Mark Lucente, director of the company's display products. "Zebra Imaging's D3D will reinvent how our warfighters visualize and interact with complex 3-D data. This near-real-time, comprehensive understanding of the battle space will make for more effective, more survivable operations across the threat spectrum."

The D3D is the product of a $25 million multiyear investment and development effort. It represents next-generation technology in understanding, applying and interacting with 3-D data. The 24-month project will demonstrate the utility of dynamic holographic display and 3-D user interaction specific to the warfighter's environment. Phase II also will further develop, optimize and integrate 3-D holographic visualization with warfighter missions, data flow, tactics and support structure.

Although D3D is the latest generation of holographic display, it is underpinned by more than four years of print holography in the hands of warfighters' downrange. Zebra Imaging has shipped more than 8000 tactical holograms of complex urban, mountainous and rural terrain directly to the warfighter since 2006.
