Veeco Hosts Webinar on Surface Profilometry

TUCSON, Ariz., June 15, 2010 — As part of its ongoing series of live webinars on three-dimensional, non-contact surface profilometry, Veeco Instruments Inc. will host a free online seminar titled, “Non-Contact, 3-D Optical Surface Profilometry for Ophthalmic Manufacturing,” today at both 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. PST.

The one-hour presentation will offer new enabling metrologies in both atomic force microscopy (AFM) and 3-D surface profilometry for R&D, QA/QC and production environments in the ophthalmology industry.

The ophthalmic contact lens and intraocular lens (IOL) markets have become competitive because of high demand from an aging population. Manufacturers must now look past the limits of traditional two-dimensional stylus techniques and dated AFM scan modes to find functional surface analysis instruments for streamlined production and increased yield.

A 15-minute Q&A session will follow the presentation. All registrants will receive a link to a recorded webinar session once the live seminars have been completed.
