Carlson to Lead QD Vision

WATERTOWN, Mass., July 2, 2010 — QD Vision, a maker of quantum dot products for solid-state lighting and display applications, announced that Jason Carlson has been hired as its new president and CEO.

Carlson replaces Dan Button, who has been president and CEO since 2007 and built the team that commercialized QD Vision's techology, launching its first Quantum Light™ product for solid-state lighting applications.

Carlson joins QD Vision from Emo Labs, a Waltham, Mass.-based company developing invisible loudspeaker systems, where he has served as president and CEO since 2006. Previously, he was CEO at Semtech Corp. and Audiologic Inc., and held senior executive positions at Cirrus Logic and ReSound, where he was a member of the founding team.

“Jason Carlson will take QD Vision to the next level,” said Jamie Goldstein, general partner at North Bridge Venture Partners, an investor in QD Vision. “QD Vision is poised to broadly scale its lighting and display businesses while introducing products in other markets. Jason’s experience is a perfect fit for the company.”

The Quantum Light™ optic enables LED lighting companies to produce lamps and downlight fixtures that combine the warmth and color of incandescent bulbs with the energy efficiency of LED technology, the company said. QD Vision is also targeting its Quantum Light™ products at the LCD industry, where it can improve light throughput, power efficiency and color gamut.
