Cambridge Research & Instrumentation Inc. (CRi) of Woburn, Mass., and Invitrogen Corp. of Carlsbad, Calif., have agreed to jointly promote CRi’s Maestro in vivo fluorescence imaging system with Invitrogen subsidiary Molecular Probes’ Saivi and Qtracker in vivo reagents. The reagents are used in small-animal modeling studies for diseases such as cancer. Combining the labeling technologies with the imaging system could facilitate identification of diseased cell populations.

The California company separately announced the asset purchase of fluo 3 and fluo 4 product lines and all related intellectual property from TEF Labs Inc. of Austin, Texas. The acquisition will enable it to manufacture and sell the fluorescent indicators used to measure the concentration of calcium ions in living cells.
