BioPhotonics
Aug 2006
Invitrogen Corp. of Carlsbad, Calif., and Cellartis AB of Gothenburg, Sweden, will collaborate to create human embryonic stem cell reporter lines. This will allow tracking of cell lineage and the study of multiple genes, without killing the cells. Some possible areas for advancement are isolation, characterization, expansion and differentiation.

In other news, Invitrogen has entered into a licensing agreement for several patents held by Affymetrix Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., to manufacture and sell spotted nucleic acid microarrays. Financial details of the license were not disclosed.
