Carl Zeiss SMT Inc. of Thornwood, N.Y., and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology have opened the Carl Zeiss Center of Excellence on the University of California, Irvine, campus. The center houses nanotechnology, biotechnology and advanced materials research facilities.
