In Denmark, Foss A/S of Hillerød has become the main shareholder in Ibsen Photonics A/S of Farum through the purchase of an additional 73 percent of shares from existing shareholders. Foss now owns about 85 percent of Ibsen, and the investment reflects a growing partnership over the past few years between the two companies. Privately owned Ibsen makes holographic, fused-silica transmission gratings and spectrometer modules for telecom, analytical, sensing and laser applications. Family-owned Foss uses Ibsen products in its analytical instruments and, by becoming the main shareholder, the company said, ensures the continued supply of high-quality spectrometers.

Glossary
holography
Holography is a technique used to capture and reconstruct three-dimensional images using the principles of interference and diffraction of light. Unlike conventional photography, which records only the intensity of light, holography records both the intensity and phase information of light waves scattered from an object. This allows the faithful reproduction of the object's three-dimensional structure, including its depth, shape, and texture. The process of holography typically involves the...
spectrometer
A kind of spectrograph in which some form of detector, other than a photographic film, is used to measure the distribution of radiation in a particular wavelength region.
