Berliner Glas Taps New CTO

BERLIN, Nov. 12, 2010 — Effective Oct. 1, 2010, Volker Schmidt assumed the newly created position of chief technology officer at Berliner Glas KGaA.

In his new role, Schmidt will be responsible for all development work within the company group. This includes the production and measuring technology division, production development, as well as future issues in technology marketing.

He began his career at the company in 2002, where he has been responsible for product and technology development in the photonics division. Since 2006, he has been a member of the management board.

With the appointment of Schmidt, the company said they have laid an important cornerstone for the technological future of the company, which will benefit its current and future optical systems customers.

Berliner Glas provides optical key components, assemblies and systems, as well as high-quality refined technical glass. It develops, produces and integrates optics, mechanics and electronics into innovative system solutions for its customers.
