JDSU Opens Facility in Suzhou, China

At its new facility in Suzhou, China, JDSU of Milpitas, Calif., will manufacture high-precision optical coatings for a variety of markets, including 3-D, gesture recognition, theater projection and sensing applications. The company has committed more than $20 million to the facility to furnish a staff of more than 50 employees, with the capacity to grow to more than 100. The new location joins other major sites in Beijing, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo and Penang. It will provide the company another base from which to expand its relationships with Asia-based customers and suppliers. JDSU has another optical coatings facility in Santa Rosa, Calif., where more than 300 employees handle its manufacturing, research and development, sales and marketing.
