Sarrafi Joins JPSA as Applications Engineer

MANCHESTER, N.H., March 8, 2011 — Industrial laser micromachining process manufacturer JP Sercel Associates Inc. announced that Dr. Rouzbeh Sarrafi has joined the company as an applications engineer in its research laboratory.

Sarrafi previously worked in materials engineering and processing at the Center for Laser-Aided Manufacturing at Southern Methodist University.

In his new position, he will be responsible for the complete parameterization, setup and operation of excimer and solid-state laser systems to produce quality parts and services for JPSA customers.

He has developed many enabling laser processes, which are used by numerous industries and which led to the publication of 18 papers in advanced materials processing.

A rare-gas halide or rare-gas metal vapor laser emitting in the ultraviolet (126 to 558 nm) that operates on electronic transitions of molecules, up to that point diatomic, whose ground state is essentially repulsive. Excitation may be by E-beam or electric discharge. Lasing gases include ArCl, ArF, KrCl, KrF, XeCl and XeF.
