Its handheld smart detector was featured in the June 22 episode of the Discovery Channel’s “Mythbusters,” the Life Sciences & Instrumentation Div. of Gooch & Housego announced.

The segment, titled “Let There Be Light,” tested the theory of whether an underground chamber can be illuminated via light reflected off mirrors, much like a scene from the movie “The Mummy.”

The handheld OL 731 is a radiometer/photometer that can be tailored to the spectral response of the user’s specific application requirements with the use of a range of sensors and filters.

Gooch & Housego, formerly Optronic Laboratories LLC, manufactures precision optical components and subsystems as well as light measurement instrumentation and services, based upon key enabling optical technologies.
