NikkoIA Licenses Siemens Imaging Tech

MOIRANS, France, July 5, 2011 — Grenoble startup NikkoIA SAS has signed a worldwide exclusive license agreement with Siemens AG to gain access to its patent portfolio on photodetector technology.

The contract is accompanied by a transfer of technology and know-how from Siemens to NikkoIA, with the intention of accelerating industrialization and commercialization of the technology.

NikkoIA will design and manufacture photodetectors and multispectral image sensors that operate in the visible and near-infrared spectrum. It already has built and tested functional sensor prototypes.

Providing a significant cost benefit over existing near-infrared sensors, the Siemens technology combines both organic and inorganic materials sensitive to specific wavelengths and deposited as thin-film layers onto industry-standard electronic substrates, NikkoIA said.

NikkoIA designs, manufactures and sells visible and near-infrared photodetectors and image sensors.
