Emcore Corp. of Albuquerque, N.M., has entered into a multiyear supply agreement with Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) of Palo Alto, Calif., to manufacture and deliver multijunction solar cells for SS/L’s commercial satellite program. The contract is the second-largest award in Emcore’s history. The company, a provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber optic, satellite and terrestrial solar power markets, will produce the solar cells at its Albuquerque manufacturing facilities. The agreement is subject to certain terms and conditions, including a provision allowing SS/L to terminate the agreement for convenience.
