RENO, Nev., Oct. 5, 2011 — Gary Oppedahl will take over as CEO and president of TriLumina, a laser technology company. He will replace TriLumina’s CEO and chairman of the board, Rudi Weideman, who has stepped down.

Richard Neumann, formally president and CFO of TriLumina, now will have the title of chairman of the board and CFO. New TriLumina team member David Abell has been appointed legal counsel and secretary of the board.

TriLumina is a solid-state laser company that has developed and patented a 10+ Gb/s optical wireless transceiver. The company says it is set to add a new burst of energy to the upcoming 10-Gb/s wireless demonstration and other technology it has been working on.

Oppedahl was recently named one of New Mexico’s top five CEOs. He has a successful business history with TriLumina members John Joseph and Kevin Lear; they worked together at MODE, a vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL)company that was later bought by Emcore, and at Novalux, another VCSEL company, whose products are designed for long-haul fiber optic telecommunications networks.

At Novalux, Oppedahl served as senior vice president of business development, product realization and marketing.
