PG&O Appointed West Coast Distributor for Schott Supremax

Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O) has announced an exclusive West Coast distributorship agreement with specialty glass provider Schott North America Inc. for its new Supremax 33 rolled sheet borosilicate glass.

With an identical composition to Schott’s Borofloat glass, the Supremax 33 brand features a rolled glass that is offered in a variety of thicknesses (from 28.6 mm, or 1 1/8 in., to 66.7 mm, or 2 5/8 in.) for extensive applications. The glass also includes low thermal expansion, high thermal resistance, excellent light transmission and chemical durability.

The low-density glass is 12 percent lighter than soda lime glass, making it useful for applications where weight is a critical factor. It is made of nonhazardous raw materials, making it possible to recycle several times and to dispose of easily.

PG&O manufactures precision glass, optics and optical coatings for a variety of applications.

optical coatings
Optical coatings are thin layers of materials applied to optical components, such as lenses, mirrors, filters, and prisms, to modify their reflective and transmissive properties. These coatings are designed to enhance the performance of optical systems by controlling the way light interacts with the surfaces of the components. The primary purposes of optical coatings include: Antireflection coating: This type of coating is designed to reduce reflections from the surfaces of optical...
