Three manufacturers of 3-D displays have announced their intent to collaborate on a standardized type of 3-D glasses to facilitate cross-display compatibility. Panasonic Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Sony Corp. have paired with XPAND 3-D to market consumer 3-D active glasses under the name “Full HD 3-D Glasses Initiative.” The companies intend to develop and license the radio-frequency (RF) system technology, including RF system protocols between consumer 3-D active glasses and 3-D displays such as TVs, personal computers, 3-D theaters and projectors, with XPAND active shutter glasses.
