Coatings Successfully Drawn at 2500 m/min
VANTAA, Finland, and ELGIN, Ill., Nov. 14, 2011 — In recent tests, Nextrom combined its OFC 20 draw process technology with DSM Functional Materials’ DeSolite Supercoatings. The tests, conducted at Nextrom’s facility in Finland, demonstrated excellent cure levels, and draw, fiber and microbending performance; dynamic fatigue; and strip force results, the company said.
“Optical fiber manufacturers are challenged with increasing capacity and efficiency to keep up with market demand, while also balancing telecom carriers’ heightened attention on improving both quality and performance,” said Steve Schmid, global applications development manager for fiber optic materials at DSM.
