Samsung Display Co. Ltd., a spinoff from Samsung Electronics, has announced its launch as a new corporation. The display manufacturer will begin business operations April 3. The new company, which recorded KRW22.7 trillion (about $20 billion) in annual revenue in 2011 as Samsung Electronics’ LCD business segment, has 20,000 employees and five production facilities worldwide. It has served as the R&D arm of Samsung Electronics since 1991.
