SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7, 2013 — Sony Business Solutions Corp. has signed an agreement to distribute Prysm Inc.’s proprietary laser phosphor display (LPD) technology in Japan.

The distribution agreement will help push Prysm’s LPD technology into new markets, said Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO of Prysm. “With the industry’s lowest energy consumption, the highest resolution and lowest total cost of ownership, Prysm LPD will quickly gain popularity across a variety of verticals in this important region.”

LPD solutions provide a uniform picture quality over life and offer contrast, fill factors and the fast response time required to provide brilliant video solutions with longer life spans, the company says. The displays are designed to decrease energy costs, and the company reports that they use up to 75 percent less energy and decrease the production of greenhouse gases by 80 percent when compared with LCD, LED, plasma and rear-projector videowall displays.

"Prysm is one of the most exciting [audio visual] technologies on the market right now, and we are excited to introduce it to our Japanese customer base," said Yoshiro Shigematsu, general manager of marketing, Sony Business Solutions Corporation. "With this agreement, we have strengthened our position as the leader in videowall distribution."
