To expand its cell imaging instrumentation product line, Life Technologies Corp. of Carlsbad, Calif., has purchased Advanced Microscopy Group (AMG), a developer of imaging systems for research microscopy. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the agreement, the existing business of privately held AMG – incorporated as Westover Scientific Inc. – will remain in Bothell, Wash., and will join Life Technologies’ Flow Cytometry and Imaging business unit. Adding AMG’s technology will enable the company to offer a complete portfolio of integrated microscopy solutions.
