WESSLING, Germany, July 23, 2013 — Photonics supplier Laser 2000 GmbH announced Tuesday that it will sell V-Gen Ltd.’s line of OEM fiber lasers in France, Scandinavia, Germany and Austria.

The Tel Aviv, Israel-based company’s products include CW and pulsed ytterbium fiber laser systems on Q-switched and MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) platforms for a variety of industrial applications such as micromachining and marking.

The lasers provide M² <1.3 or 1.5 beam quality, up to 1.5-mJ high pulse energies, nearly 40-kW peak power, and 1-ns short pulses.

A special lidar short-pulse laser series is also available for rangefinding and lidar applications at 1064 or 1550 nm.

Glossary
lidar
Lidar, short for light detection and ranging, is a remote sensing technology that uses laser light to measure distances and generate precise, three-dimensional information about the shape and characteristics of objects and surfaces. Lidar systems typically consist of a laser scanner, a GPS receiver, and an inertial measurement unit (IMU), all integrated into a single system. Here is how lidar works: Laser emission: A laser emits laser pulses, often in the form of rapid and repetitive laser...
