LightPath Board Member Silverman Dies

LightPath Technologies Inc. board member Gary Silverman has died, the optical products maker announced Tuesday. Silverman, who died Nov. 1, was a board member for more than 12 years. He was 74.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague,” said LightPath president and CEO James Gaynor. “Gary was a valued member of our board of directors and trusted counselor. His wit, wisdom and contributions to the success of our company will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family.”

“We extend our condolences to Penny Silverman and her family,” said board chairman Robert Ripp. “I greatly appreciated Gary’s wisdom and business counsel on LightPath matters. He is a great loss for the company and I will miss a dear and valued friend.”

Silverman had served as a LightPath director since September 2001, according to the company’s website. He was managing partner of GWS Partners, an executive search firm.

LightPath makes optical products including precision-molded aspheric optics, Gradium glass products, proprietary collimator assemblies, laser components utilizing proprietary automation technology, and higher-level assemblies and packing solutions for markets including industrial, medical, defense, test and measurement, and telecommunications.
