Photomachining, Lightfab to Collaborate on U.S. Selective Laser Etching

PELHAM, N.H., May 10, 2017 — Laser integrator Photomachining Inc. and selective laser etching technology developer Lightfab GmbH have announced a collaborative effort to promote selective laser etching with femtosecond lasers in the U.S. market.

“The ultra-short-pulse laser market is maturing and moving fast,” said Ronald Schaeffer, CEO of Photomachining. “Because of the unique nature of very short pulse light, it is possible to do things such as selective laser etching, which cannot be done with longer pulse lengths.”

“3D precision glass parts can be used in many markets, and we see especially large potentials in the U.S. market, [for example] in electronics and medical,” said Jürgen Ortmann, managing partner of Lightfab. “Together with Photomachining, we hope to find new customers for our prize-winning LightFab 3D Printer and to enable the exploitation of the benefits of the selective laser etching technology, [and] also for those customers searching for a domestic source of 3D precision glass parts.
