PITTSFIELD, Mass., May 16, 2017 — Each year, Photonics Media honors a few notable people in the photonics and optics industry, whose outstanding contributions have advanced light-based technologies in the scientific, business, academic and consumer communities. Industry Beacons are nominated by our readers. This year, we’ve extended the deadline to July 3, 2017 to reach as many readers — and gather as many nominations — as possible.
Nominate a colleague, a mentor, a manager, a member of your staff — anyone you feel has made a significant contribution to the industry, in one of the five following categories:
Educator: someone who has inspired students at the high-school through post-graduate levels to go on to make their mark on the photonics industry.
Researcher: someone who has shown vision and perseverance that led to a significant advance in optics or photonics.
Industry Advocate (New Category!): Someone who has championed a new technology, application or service with passion, advancing photonics awareness.
Entrepreneur: Someone who has cultivated an emerging technology that promises to significantly impact the industry.
Leader (New Category!): C-level individual who has led a photonics company or division that has had an impact on the industry.
To nominate a Beacon, go to the Nomination Form and tell us in 250 words or less why you think your candidate merits this honor, and in which category. We’ll feature the winners in the September issue of Photonics Spectra, which has more than 95,000 subscribers worldwide.
Deadline for entries is July 3, 2017. Please submit a separate entry for each individual you wish to nominate. Cast your vote today.
Watch interviews with last year’s winners in the categories of research/leadership, education and entrepreneurship.
