SWIR Market to Grow 7.1 Percent Every Year
Apr 2018
PUNE, India, April 10, 2018 — The SWIR camera market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.1 percent from 2018 to 2025, according to Esticast Research and Consulting.

The U.S. is the largest consumer of SWIR technology, especially for homeland security, which includes protection against terrorist attacks, oil spills in the marine environment, and other threats to the public. In 2013, officials of the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio issued a broad agency announcement for the Industrial Base for Low-Cost SWIR Camera Cores program. Moreover, favorable initiatives taken by the U.S. government for the development of biological sciences and agriculture are motivating authorities to emphasize more R&D of imaging techniques, opening a growth pathway for the market.

Other countries are also dealing with border disputes and terrorism threats, leading to an increase in safety concerns and the need for defense components. SWIR area cameras have emerged out of a need to secure dangerous regions. They can be mounted upon trucks, buildings, and unmanned aerial vehicles, and they can proficiently detect any kind of human activity or threat, even in dark and foggy situations. These cameras are highly preferred by geologists in order to study various physical aspects of the Earth.

The Asian market is expected to grow at the fastest rate. Linear cameras are expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 8.31 percent.
