Omron Donates Workforce Equipment

Automation technology developer Omron Automation Americas has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment for use by engineering technology students at Georgian College, in Barrie, Ontario.

The workforce-relevant equipment is used in today’s industrial applications. Students will be able to put their knowledge into practice by using a new set of programmable logic controllers to simulate assembly line production in one of the college’s electrical labs. In addition to their contribution to labs and classrooms, Omron has also partnered with Georgian College’s Centre for Applied Research and Innovation to help a food and beverage client improve its manufacturing process with new electrical and mechanical capabilities.

"We are proud to be partners with Georgian College, helping students to engage in hands-on learning of automation solutions,” said Peter Brouwer, general manager of Omron Canada. “The latest technologies in motion control, machine safety, human-machine interface, vision, sensors, and control components are available and can be tested together in a learning environment that simulates integrated interactions of total machine automation."

The college will be hosting a room-naming dedication event in honor of Omron’s contribution.

Omron Automation is an industrial automation provider that creates, sells, and services fully integrated automation solutions, including for robotics, sensing, motion, logic, safety, and more.
