Lightchip Adds 200 GHz and Flat Passband Capabilities to Versalight OWR

Responding to market demand, Lightchip, a provider of intelligent optical transport products, added 200 GHz spacing and flat passband capabilities to its Versalight optical wavelength router (OWR). The newly equipped diffraction grating based Versalight OWR provides twenty 200 GHz ITU spaced channels. The OWR is capable of ultra low-loss, bi-directional wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing of disparate network traffic flows on a single fiber.

Lightchip's patent pending flat passband product reduces overall network costs by decreasing the expense of optical transmission equipment and it's maintenance. Further the new Versalight 200 GHZ OWR enhances network performance by allowing signals to pass through many filters without causing distortion to the signal or altering filter characteristics. With the addition of 200 GHz spacing and flat passband capabilities to the already feature-rich Versalight OWR, service providers can achieve the network efficiencies and flexibility needed to route wavelengths where and when they are most needed.

In concert with Lightchip's optical wavelength manager, the Versalight OWR allows service providers to deliver higher quality service by rapidly monitoring and measuring optical signal-to-noise ratio, direction and optical power of each wavelength in real time.
