Melles Griot has hired a new senior optical engineer and a new product manager for machine vision at its facility in Rochester, N.Y. Georg Nadorff has taken a position as a senior optical engineer at the company's Optical Systems facility. Nadorff holds both a master and a bachelor of science degree in optical engineering from the University of Rochester's Institute of Optics. Val Moshkovskiy, the new product manager of machine vision, holds a master of science degree, with a concentration in optical engineering, from Kiev Polytechnic Institute and a master of business administration from Simon School at the University of Rochester.

CENiX Inc., a manufacturer of high-speed optoelectronic interfaces, announced the appointment of Curtis J. Crawford to the company's board of directors. Crawford is chairman of the board of directors of ON Semiconductor Corp.. Until early this year, Crawford served as chairman, president and CEO of ZiLOG Inc., a producer of application specific standard products in the semiconductor industry. Crawford is a forceful advocate of a customer-driven, systems-level approach to the electronics business.
