A center dedicated to advancing research in nanoelectronic technology and housing several photonics-related research projects was unveiled at the University of Toronto. Among the projects at the center is the study of transport and optical properties of low-dimensional quantum structures. Researchers there also will work toward fabricating a multitip scanning probe microscope array, along with modeling the interactions between a scanning probe microscope tip and semiconductor surface. The new center -- made possible by a $6 million donation -- is equipped with a wide range of facilities for...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesBruker Makes Fourth and Fifth Acquisitions of 2024In separate transactions, Bruker has acquired preclinical in-vivo optical imaging systems company Spectral Instruments Imaging (SII), and Nanophoton Corporation, a provider of advanced research Raman...Photonics.com 2/7/2024Freeform Illuminators Spur Computational Microscopy Efficiency GainsTo further the use of programmable illumination for computational microscopy methods, researchers at the University of Connecticut constructed, calibrated, and tested freeform illuminators in...Vision-Spectra.com March 2023 IssueProject to Use Quantum Imaging to Track the Pathology of TumorsA project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research will investigate the viability of quantum optical imaging for tumor diagnostics.
