BOTHELL, Wash., May 2 -- Lumera Corp., a subsidiary of Microvision Inc., said that, in collaboration with the University of Washington, it has demonstrated new materials that exhibit unprecedented levels of electro-optic activity. The company says it is using the materials for the creation of optical components that will feature major improvements in drive voltage, optical loss and device size over current devices. Lumera's polymers are said to have shown electro-optic activity that is more than twice that of lithium niobate. Researchers at the University of Washington, led by Larry Dalton...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesElectrochromic Smart Window Provides High Performance at Low CostResearchers at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) have fabricated a smart window that provides a low-cost...Photonics Spectra April 2023 IssueTunable Metasurface Senses Multidimensional Light-Field InformationResearchers led by professor Yuanmu Yang from the State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurement Technology and Instruments, Department of Precision Instruments, Tsinghua University have developed a...Photonics Spectra March 2023 IssueUltrasmall Silicon LED Enables High-Resolution Integrated ImagingResearchers at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) developed a CMOS-based silicon LED that, though smaller than a wavelength, emits light at an intensity comparable to much...Photonics.com 5/22/2023Porotech to Unveil Dynamic Pixel Tuning for Micro-LEDs: Week in Brief: 05/06/22VIGO Photonics opened its first office in the U.S., in St. Petersburg, Fla.
