MURRAY HILL, N.J, June 3 -- Edison Carrier Solutions, a regional "carrier's carrier" based in Southern California, will be the first service provider in the US to commercially deploy the LambdaUnite MultiService Switch (MSS) -- a next-generation optical system from Lucent Technologies -- as part of an end-to-end solution, the companies said. LightRiver Technologies, a Lucent Advantage business partner, is working with Edison Carrier and Lucent to implement the solution. The Lucent system includes the Metropolis DMX Access Multiplexer platform, software and services and provides a bridge between data-intense metro networks and high-speed optical core networks, connecting cities, campuses and corporate networks to larger, long-haul public networks. Metropolis DMX, which is part of Lucent's Metropolis portfolio of metro optical networking products, provides next-generation SONET capabilities.
