AT&T Broadband Layoffs Announced

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 -- AT&T Broadband plans to cut 1,700 jobs, or 4 percent of its 40,000 employees, after Comcast Corp. completes its proposed acquisition of the AT&T Corp. unit, Reuters reported yesterday. Comcast is currently seeking final regulatory approvals of its $30 billion acquisition of AT&T Broadband, which is expected to close by the end of the year.
