PORTLAND, Ore., May 5 -- FLIR Systems Inc. announced today it has received orders for 50 of its ThermaCAM thermography cameras for use at airports, hospitals and other locations in Taiwan and Korea to help detect fever, a possible precursor to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The cameras can accurately measure temperature and can be programmed to detect body temperature, the company said. Airline passengers and visitors to hospitals and other locations will be asked to look into the infrared camera to record their facial temperatures. The cameras, which FLIR says measure temperature...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesFluorescence Lifetime Imaging Could Improve Cancer Surgery OutcomesExtreme precision is required to surgically remove a cancerous tumor without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.
