TROY, N.Y., June 2 -- Evident Technologies today announced it has entered into a license agreement with IBM for lead selenide (PbSe) quantum dots. This license enables Evident Technologies to make, use, offer to sell and sell PbSe nanocrystals based on IBM's production methods. As part of the agreement, Evident will provide materials produced under the agreement to IBM, and IBM will provide consulting services to Evident. Clinton Ballinger, CEO of Evident Technologies, said, "We know that quantum dot nanocrystals offer benefits to a whole plethora of applications, ranging from lasers to...Read full article

    quantum dots
A quantum dot is a nanoscale semiconductor structure, typically composed of materials like cadmium selenide or indium arsenide, that exhibits unique quantum mechanical properties. These properties arise from the confinement of electrons within the dot, leading to discrete energy levels, or "quantization" of energy, similar to the behavior of individual atoms or molecules. Quantum dots have a size on the order of a few nanometers and can emit or absorb photons (light) with precise wavelengths,...
