BEIJING, June 10 -- Lucent Technologies announced today that it has been awarded an optical networking contract with Beijing Communication Corp. (BCC), a subsidiary of China Netcom, to build an advanced optical network connecting Beijing's suburbs. Lucent said the award is worth "tens of millions" of dollars. Lucent will deploy a variety of systems and software products, including the Metropolis ADM MultiService Mux, WaveStar ADM16/1, Navis Optical Dynamic Network Analyzer , Navis Optical Network Management System and WaveStar ITM-SC to construct 10 G optical rings for BCC, enabling BCC to dramatically increase its network capacity in the Beijing area and easing the migration from a traditional voice network to a multiservice transport network.
