Edmund Industrial Optics announced it has launched a new magnetorheological finishing (MRF) optical polishing capability at its corporate headquarters, in Barrington, N.J. MRF is a polishing technology in which a "smart fluid" changes viscosity when exposed to a magnetic field. The company said the technology will enable it to perform high-precision raster polishing of a variety of prisms and that it is ideal for polishing visible and near-infrared optics.
