Corning Tropel, a Fairport, N.Y.-based subsidiary of Corning Inc., makes precision optical subsystems and metrology instrumentation for the semiconductor, data storage, automotive and industrial markets. . . . Camstar Systems Inc., a Campbell, Calif., provider of enterprise manufacturing performance management systems for life sciences, semiconductor, electronics and other manufacturers, announced that Eastman Kodak Co.'s Image Sensor Solutions (ISS) division has implemented its InSite manufacturing execution system to manage product quality and performance at its Rochester, N.Y., manufacturing facility. Kodak ISS makes image sensors for applications including satellite and medical imaging, digital cameras and machine vision products. . . . Shimpei Hirata has been named president of Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe GmbH (FME). A Fujitsu career executive with 25 years experience in the international semiconductor industry, Hirata is based at FME's European headquarters in Dreieich-Buchschlag, near Frankfurt, Germany. He succeeds Yutaka Suzuki, who has returned to Japan as senior vice president of Fujitsu's electronic device marketing and sales group. . . . High Q Laser US Inc., a Boston subsidiary of High Q Laser Production GmbH, based in Hohenems, Austria, has announced an exclusive agreement with APE Gmbh, of Berlin, to distribute APE's Levante picosecond optical parametric oscillator in the US and Canada.
