Malgorzata Kujawinska was elected 2005 president of SPIE (The International Society for Optical Engineering) at the society's annual meeting, held last month in Denver. Kujawinska is a professor of applied optics at the Department of Mechatronics, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and head of the Optical Engineering Division at WUT's Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics. A SPIE Fellow since 1997, Kujawinska has also served on the SPIE board and chaired numerous committees. Also elected were: Vice President Paul F.
