American Science and Engineering Inc., a Billerica, Mass., x-ray detection technology company, announced it has received an order for multiple linear accelerator systems totaling $5.3 million for its High-Energy Systems Division, a Mountain View, Calif.-based maker of low- to high-power electron beam and x-ray systems and their subcomponents. The accelerators will be manufactured for Accuray Inc., of Sunnyvale, for use in stereostatic radiosurgery. The order is the second received under a 2002 purchase agreement. . . .
