Positron Systems Inc., a Pocatello, Idaho-based provider of nondestructive and material characterization testing, announced it will be granted a US patent by Oct. 6 for its induced positron annihilation volumetric (IPA-V) technology. The IPA process involves penetrating materials with a photon beam generated by a small linear accelerator or other techniques to create positrons, which are attracted to nanosized defects in the material.
