Nano-Based Drug Delivery System Targets Tumors

BUFFALO, N.Y., June 12, 2006 -- A new nanoparticle-based drug delivery system that uses an applied magnetic field to target tumor cells with custom-designed, drug-filled nanocarriers may lead to treatments that could reduce drug accumulation in normal tissues and also take advantage of the benefits of photodynamic therapy (PDT), one of the most promising cancer treatments, its creators said.
