Illinois AG Sues Corning Over Contaminated Site

CHICAGO, Aug. 3, 2006 -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed suit against Corning Inc. over soil and groundwater contamination at a former factory site owned by the Corning, N.Y.-based fiber optics and glass manufacturer. According to Madigan's suit, a water sample collected in May showed elevated concentrations of the degreasing solvent trichloroethylene (TCE), a suspected carcinogen, in a private residential well near the Crystal Lake site.
