Closing in on Invisibility Cloak

BERKELEY, Calif., Aug. 11, 2008 – The idea of an invisibility cloak certainly pushes the edge of plausible, however a group of scientists from the University of California, Berkeley, have come one step closer to being able to render objects invisible to the human eye. For the first time, this team has engineered 3-D materials that can reverse the natural direction of visible and near-infrared light, a development that could help form cloaking devices that could render objects invisible to the human eye, and could also form the basis for higher resolution optical imaging and nanocircuits for high-powered computers. ...Read full article
