An adaptive optics system designed and produced by Raytheon Optical Systems Inc. in Danbury, Conn., has arrived at the US Air Force Research Laboratory's Maui Space Surveillance Complex in Hawaii. The adaptive optics will be installed in a vibration-free, thermally controlled room 60 feet below the US Department of Defense's largest optical telescope. The telescope has a 3.67-m primary mirror and is designed to collect high-quality images of interstellar phenomena.
