Ultrahigh-brightness light source manufacturer Energetiq Technology Inc. announced recently that it has built a clean manufacturing facility at its Woburn, Mass., location. The 800-sq-ft cleanroom will provide Class 1000 assembly capability for the company’s Laser-Driven Light Source products, which provide broadband deep-UV, visible and NIR light for analytical applications requiring ultralong lamp life.Read full article

    cleanroom
    An area in which airborne particulates can be monitored and controlled so that given size particles do not exceed a specified concentration, thereby eliminating potential dysfunctions in gyroscopes, ball bearings and other materials and lubricants.
    light
    Electromagnetic radiation detectable by the eye, ranging in wavelength from about 400 to 750 nm. In photonic applications light can be considered to cover the nonvisible portion of the spectrum which includes the ultraviolet and the infrared.
    near-infrared
    The shortest wavelengths of the infrared region, nominally 0.75 to 3 µm.
    ultraviolet
    That invisible region of the spectrum just beyond the violet end of the visible region. Wavelengths range from 1 to 400 nm.
    visible
    That term pertaining to the spectral region that can be perceived by the eye.
