Industrial laser maker Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. of Plymouth, Mich., has acquired Switzerland-based 7971%%Lasag AG from The Swatch Group Ltd. for an undisclosed amount of cash. Lasag manufactures industrial Nd:YAG lasers for materials processing. The lasers are used for fine cutting, spot welding, drilling and scribing applications in the medical device, automotive, electronic and aerospace industries. The Swatch Group of Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, said the sale will allow it to focus on watches, its core business.Read full article
