GT Solar Receives $33M Sapphire Crystallization Order

MERRIMACK, N.H., Jan. 21, 2011 — GT Solar International Inc. announced it received a $33.3 million order from OCI Co. Ltd. of South Korea, for its sapphire crystallization furnaces. The order marks OCI’s entrance into the LED industry, and is GT Solar’s first commercial sale of its sapphire crystallization furnaces into the Korean LED market. OCI will utilize the furnaces to produce high quality sapphire material, the fundamental substrate material used to manufacture a range of LED products, including high-brightness LEDs.
