US, UK Fund Photosynthesis Improvements

ARLINGTON, Va., April 4, 2011 — Scientists in the US and the UK have been awarded funding totaling more than $10.3 million to improve the process of biological photosynthesis. The US National Science Foundation (NSF) and the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) collaborated in issuing these jointly funded awards. EPP will engineer into cells protein structures that reduce photorespiration and boost photosynthesis.
