New Imaging Tech Diagnoses Multiple Diseases

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., June 13, 2011 — By measuring ultrasound signals from molecules exposed to a fast-pulsing laser, biomedical engineers at Purdue University developed an imaging technology that diagnoses multiple diseases. The new method could be used to take precise 3-D images of plaques lining arteries, said Ji-Xin Cheng, an associate professor of biomedical engineering and chemistry.
