ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 26, 2011 — High-power fiber laser solutions provider Arbor Photonics Inc. was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract from the US Army to develop a compact, rugged femtosecond laser for hazardous materials detection, it announced. Under the program, the company plans to develop >100-µJ, <100-fs fiber lasers based on proprietary 3C (chirally coupled core) optical fiber. The 3C fiber uses an internal structure to produce single-spatial-mode output from very large core fibers. When produced in a compact, robust format, the laser will permit significant...Read full article
